Help our Community!

Host a Diaper Drive

Imagine only being able to change your baby’s diaper once a day in order to make it last until your next paycheck. For an average infant, a healthy change of diapers is up to 12 times per day, and 8 for a toddler. Currently there is no safety net program (WIC, Food Stamps, Medicare) in place that pays for diapers.

Diapers are a crucial basic need for Maine’s families and are the most requested item all year long. Help keep your littlest neighbors safe and comfortable by donating diapers and wipes to TOA today!

 Here’s how to help:

  • Hosting a baby shower? Ask guests to bring a box of diapers to the party.

  • Host a diaper drive at your business- make it a competition by seeing what department/ location can collect the most boxes.

  • As members of your church/ community group to bring boxes of diapers or wipes.

Card Making / Letter Writing

Help brighten someone’s day and make a card or write a letter! You can share a quote, for example, or send words of encouragement to them know that they are loved. Cards will be distributed through to TOA’s residential program clients and 24/7 staff that need a pick-me-up or some encouragement. Mail your cards to Lily Lynch, VP of Development & Communication at The Opportunity Alliance, 50 Lydia Lane, South Portland, ME 04106.
