The Cumberland County Homelessness Prevention Program (CCHP)

The Cumberland County Homelessness Prevention Program addresses the needs of our community’s growing homeless population by helping families and individuals in Cumberland County find, secure, and/or maintain housing. This program provides comprehensive and adaptive support to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Through this work, we prevent families from falling into homelessness through several strategies:

• Short-term case management services

• Financial support to address the crisis

• Financial counseling for long-term success

The short-term housing case management allows families and individuals to access tools to search for housing as well as an array of other resources in the community as needed. We work in a collaborative effort to help reduce barriers, which in turn maintains a more stable housing status. The case managers provide targeted interventions which address each individual or family's specific needs in order to stabilize a fragile situation and prevent a downward spiral from occurring. We can navigate support systems on behalf of the client, providing a range of services and supports including food resources, access to other basic needs, referrals to mental health services, financial counseling, and one-time payments for housing related supports.
